Some may be against each other due to personality differences. This makes the aspect of team building seem as a useless venture.
The challenge that most managers have is to create an environment that enables all the people working in the department to work together and be a team. Team building is the challenge of every manager.
For a team to be described as successful the team members should be able to complete their designated task and feel that they have made a contribution to the team. This is what a successful team does:
- They create various levels of deep working relationships among them. The relationships that team members build among themselves become a strong foundation for the team and enhance team building. Being in the same office does not mean that they have the best relationships. They have to create bonds that last
- They have an emotional connection with each other so that they can all stand for something. We can explain this by asking one simple question. If all team members are asked the purpose for the team will they give the same answer? The response will determine whether the team will succeed or not.
- They develop their own internal motivation. If your team is internally motivated they can enhance their team building. The cases of laziness and bickering are not a good sign in the team. As a manager, this should make you wonder where their motivation is.
- They build their qualities through synergistic interaction. Synergy involves all the team members combining their skills, efforts, and experience to enhance team building. They share their knowledge freely and also engage freely.
- They know they need to develop, perform and improve. Successful teams know that team building is about growing together and this is exactly what they do. They ensure that they help each other grow and learn while researching together.
These are the traits that make the team stand out and ensure that team members do not engage in their own motives at the expense of the whole team. Even though, the team ethics do not work cases of conflict are few because all the following traits.
