Monitoring of your team is needed so that you can know if you will be able to achieve your purpose. This can be done by using the GOALS model that was developed by Simon Hayward. This model gives you the key to success of your team. It is described as follows:
G for Goals
O for Opportunity
As a manager, you should ask yourself if everyone in the team has a chance to use their skills and strengths to contribute to the success of the team. Also as a manager you should ensure the environment is conducive to the advancement in the skills of the team members.
A for Authority
The team members should be given enough resources to carry out their tasks.
This may range from financial resources, support and also training. If this is not available they may not be able to do their job effectively. As a leader, you can instill team building activities to ensure the team develops.
